okie dokie. here i am. i'm home alone with jordan. he's napping and i'm trying to type as fast as i can to key in as much as i can. okie, dun make fun of my english. sleep isn't sufficient - but it's all worthwhile. baby jordan has grown taller and chubbier... thanks to mummy's feeding... =)
let's see, where shall we start?
18 jan marked the birth of baby jordan - it also marked the beginning of my confinement. or rather imprisonment. haha... ok, it's not that bad. honestly.
i rest whenever i can (ok, i try), and meals are presented to me. how bad can that get?
it's more likely that baby jordan has to learn how to get used to life outside the womb. how to tell day and night. how to react when he's hungry.
19 to 20 jan were easier days coz all i did was to craddle and hug baby jordan, BF him and the nurses would take him away for periodic routine check ups...
the real challenge was bringing baby jordan home last weekend. before discharging, the PD mentioned that baby jordan was a little jaundiced and might have to stay one more day, unlikely, but maybe. i bawled my eyes out. i couldn't eat my breakfast - that was when i truly felt the enlightenment of motherhood. *clap clap*
last week was good. except for nights. baby jordan slept quite a lot throughout the day and was very active during the night. his eyes were wide open and we had to entertain him. thank God for parents (jordan's grandparents) who stayed over to entertain him, so that i could catch a little shut eye throughout the night.
i shall take the opportunity to thank my mum... "mummy, i would not have survived last week if not for u being around. my eyes would have popped out and i would have just sat there and bawled my eyes out... i love u very much..."
baby jordan is adpating very very well to his routine now... in fact, i know it very well too and thus it gives me shut eye time and expressing time if i ever need to.
3.30am: feeding time
6.45am: feeding time
9am: feeding time
12pm: feeding time
12pm - 2pm: entertainmet time (to keep him awake so that he can sleep at night! this is when all the story books, hand puppets and finger puppets come to good use!)
2pm: feeding time
2.30pm: bath time
5pm: feeding time
7.30pm: feeding time
9.30pm: feeding time
11.30pm: feeding time
then he sleeps all the way till 3.30am and the routine just goes on and on...
he wakes up twice only at night to feed... not bad for a 2 week old baby! =)
we went for his PD check-up on wed and pple thought he was a month old child... wow. he must be really benefitting from my milk. =)
i am so proud of him... my little darling...

most updates will be done here from now on. mainly becoz i don't have the time and energy to update both jordan's blog and mine... my baby boy... he's really in love with me. heh. i am now carrying him on my left arm and typing with my right hand... i can't put him down now as he will wail... =( i don't like it when he does... some pple believe in self-soothe... but didn't anyone tell these group of pple abt colic? oh oh oh... he just peeked to double-check that it's still me that's cradling him...
okie dokie, as promised, my delivery story... let's start from the 15th... 15th jan (7.30pm) dearie and me step into the gynae's clinic
gynae: hey steph, nah, u won't deliver so soon... still have 2.5 weeks to full term... let's do a check (this meant a VE... don't ask...) after the VE, gynae: steph, u'll deliver on wed or thu, baby is already engaged and u are already dilated 2-3 cm... come back again on wed morning.. 17th jan (10am)
dearie takes leave from work. i have another VE and i'm told to return to the clinic again at 12pm for yet another VE... so far so good, i'm dilated 5cm by 12pm... gynae said to check into hospital at 6.30pm and get ready to give birth... 6.30pm
i check into thomson medical centre. enter the delivery observatory ward and get ready to deliver. i am told to empty my stomach... by this time, i am already 6cm dilated and feeling mild contractions.
7.30pm  i enter the delivery suite. dearie is already there. i'm told to relax and watch tv... okie then... i watch the whole of american idol part 1, i hear the tuneless pple and i laugh. my gynae calls the nurse to put me on a drip. i hate taking drips. i hate needles!!! they scare me more than labour itself. my gynae says he wants my contractions to become like the MRT train, not like a bus!
9.30pm
the contractions kick in stronger. my gynae walks in and says that i'm mad coz i'm still chit chatting with dearie. then what does he expect me to do? cry? it'll make it worse right?
10pm my gynae walks in and breaks my water bag... dearie walks out to pee and my beloved sister buys him fried rice. he decides to eat the fried rice... (what the... )
10.20pm
dearie walks back into the delivery suite. my contractions kicked in around 10.05pm, when NO ONE was with me. i swore i could have killed dearie if not for the contractions. a string of vulgarities were at the tip of my tongue.
but i was in pain. the midwife walks in and asks if i would like a relaxant on my lower half. she said dr ang wants me to have it anyway - then what's the point of asking me whe i am in pain right??? she said it'll be more comfortable. she also asks to to use laughing gas to relax myself. (stupid gas doesn't work...)
everyone was beginning to get on my nerves somehow or other...
10.45pm
the midwife asks if i would like epidural. i manged to answer her with a big fat NO. dr ang already said, no epidural for me... he wants me to feel the pain...
11pm
surges of contractions begin... but i am not fully dilated yet... so i cannot push...
18 jan (12am)
i am fully dilated! midwife says to practise my pushing... begin the crowning process... ouch.
12.45am
jordan is crowning...
1.02am
5 pushes... jordan is out... =)
 and u know what? the most cliched thing? u really dun feel the pain once your baby is placed on your chest... i look at him... he looks exactly like his daddy... =) and yeah i did it, with NO EPIDURAL...
wooooohooooo.....
everyone, meet Jordan Isaiah Tai Liang Kai... he will be a week old tomorrow.. =)

just came back from the doc's. baby jordan is about 3.1kg - 3.2kg...
here comes the important part...
he's engaged and i'm also all ready... (yes, mummies out there, u know what i mean... 2-3cm already... if u're not a mummy and u dun understand what i'm saying, then, forget it, dun need to ask me...) and all ready to see this world!!!
doc estimates that i'll be delivering wed or thu.
latest thu. he says won't be thu night coz he has a concert to attend on thu evening! hahaha... that's my gynae for u! =)
my next update should be the delivery story and pics of baby jordan... =)

braxton hicks (read: FALSE) contractions... they come... they go... (or at least i hope that at this point of me typing they ARE braxton hicks contractions)
they are slightly more today.
tomo is my daddy's birthday.
maybe baby jordan and his grandfather might have the same birthday...
ohhhh... here comes another one...
the best thing that can happen now is my water bursting now! =)
dearie is asking me every 5 mins, "everything ok?"

i do enjoy being in the morning session. at least i feel like i have a little more time on my hands. it's psychological, i'm sure. but oh well, whatever makes me happy. ha!
i went to the gynae today. dearie can't make it on friday, so i went today instead. baby jordan is 3kg now and is running out of space in my tummy... he covered his face again and again, playing with the gynae as my gynae tried to catch a glimpse of his face... the comp even said that i'm 38 weeks and 6 days along. goodness. baby jordan is also a tall fella, so being held in that little space is really a feat for my baby darling.
few more days, yah, baby jordan?
gynae asked if i really don't mind stopping work on 15th jan... oh go ahead, guess what i said... =)

goodbye 2006...
i am experiencing braxton hicks contractions... erm, it's not actually that bad... dearie, i'm fine, i really am... =)
as the time comes for baby jordan to enter this world... i am getting so excited to see my little one's chubby face... hopefully, this friday, he won't cover his face (as he always does!!!) at the doc's and maybe i can catch a glimpse of his entire face (don't cover your chubby face, baby jordan!)...
school starts tomo. i'll be teaching my own form class, another p2 class and 3 p6 classes (yup, 3 p6 classes!) haha... i'll be teaching them what i teach best... the world's most exciting subject(s)... they should know by now, i suppose!
come to think about it, i'll be in school only for 8 days. 3 days this week and 5 days next week. provided baby jordan doesn't get too impatient, i will be saying "sayonara" to my little darlings on 12 jan... and will be at home awaiting baby jordan's arrival beginning 15 jan.
time flies by so very very fast. i just wanna see baby jordan soon... =)
